Guidelines for Project Visitors

You will be provided with a booklet full of practical advice, tips and experiences from former visitors covering topics from getting there to money issues, and from meal-time etiquette to staying healthy.

Orientation session

You must attend an orientation session before going out to India.

If you are not available for any of the planned orientation dates, please contact us and we will try to arrange an alternative time for your orientation session.

Orientations are normally held in the UK, in London, but special arrangements can be made for applicants from other countries.

The one-day session is often run by former project visitors and is a good opportunity to meet them as well as other potential visitors. The day is structured with a mixture of case studies, discussion time and a video to give you some idea what to expect when you arrive. The objective of the day is to clear up all your anxieties about visiting rural India.

"I think the orientation day before we went was very helpful because it described what we would be doing when we got there and what was expected of us. The opportunity to ask questions and talk to past PVs together with the watching of the APK video were the most useful things for me. Meeting other PVs you would be with at APK was also a good idea because you can get in touch before going and travel to APK together, much less scary for new arrivals, especially girls."
